Rachel has really started talking this last week. She now tries to repeat the words we say to her back to us. She says no a lot but in this cute high voice with a grin so it is hard to be upset. She has been having rough nights where she cries out a lot, and won't go back to sleep until we go in and comfort her.
Monday 12th- Rachel and I hung out at home all day. In the evening, John had tutoring. It took him a while to get there and get home because it was snowing. He was not very happy. Once he got home, we got Rachel to bed, and went to bed ourselves.
Tuesday 13th - Rachel and I went shopping during the day. Things went pretty well with that. Once John got home, we hung out and relaxed.
Wednesday 14th - John went running in the morning. He ran six miles. Rachel and I hung out at home in the morning and afternoon (I feel very boring). In the evening, John and I went to the Verizon store to get our new phones. It took a while to get everything set up (and Rachel was not happy by the end), but we got everything figured out. We love our new phones. They are very nice. John didn't think he would like the fingerprint scanner so much, but he keeps playing with it.
Thursday 15th - Rachel and I hung out in the morning. In the afternoon, Gloria was kind enough to come over and watch Rachel while I went to the dentist. After getting all the x-rays and pictures done, they started cleaning my teeth. They told me I have "severe" gingivitis, which they said is probably caused by my pregnancy, so I had to schedule another appointment on Friday so they could numb me up before cleaning my teeth. After John got home, we went to Olive Garden for dinner. It was really yummy, but our server was not the greatest. We watched Biggest Loser and went to bed.
Friday 16th - I had to go back to dentist, and Gloria was so nice to come and watch Rachel again. My cleaning went well, but my gums were a bit sore. I had to get 10 shots to numb my mouth and I could still feel some things. I had to schedule some additional appointments for further dental work, which I got cost estimates for. John was really concerned when I told him what it would cost (or that it would cost), so he called the dentist and discussed insurance and they were able to get everything sorted out, so it turns out all of our (non-serious) dental work for the rest of the year will be covered by insurance. That night we went to dinner at John's parents (he met Rachel and I there after work). It was delicious. We then came home and went to bed.
Saturday 17th - John went for a 12 mile run in the morning. He felt he did fairly well, but his foot started to hurt after he got back. When Rachel went down for her nap, John left to go get a haircut and get the oil changed. I laid down for a nap, but Rachel woke up really quickly. I was able to rock her back to sleep, but she woke up shortly thereafter again. After I got her back to sleep, I was wide awake. Fortunately, she slept for a while after that and I got to talk to my mom. After she woke up, John took her shopping with him to get some food items we needed. After they got back, our friends Kevin and Kindra came by for dinner (which they were kind enough to bring) and games. We had fun with them, and they left when we are all starting to act a little loopy because of being tired.
Sunday 18th - Rachel slept until almost 8:30. After that, John made pancakes for some easy breakfasts for Rachel. I got my lesson ready and showered while he began working on dinner. We tried to lay Rachel down for a nap, but she just cried and played for almost an hour and half until we finally let her out. At church I taught my lesson and had fun with the 4 year olds. Rachel ran into nursery, and did say "bye" to John before he left. When we got home from church, Rachel was so tired that we laid her down for a nap, and she slept until we woke her up around 5:30. We had some new friends from the ward come over for dinner. Unfortunately they had to go to a family activity, so we didn't get to play games. We then spent the rest of the evening cleaning up and relaxing. John got to play on his computer and I got to read.
