July 20th - July 26th

Rachel's vocabulary has really been blossoming.  She has so many more words that she tries to say and so many more of them are understandable.  She has now learned to open doors which has made things fun and required us to put child locks on a couple doors to keep things safe. She doesn't eat a lot because she is much too busy running around to stop and be bothered with food. Rachel absolutely loves going places and always wants her shoes on because she thinks it means so will get to go somewhere.  When someone does leave without her she is always devastated and cries and cries. She also loves to sing, especially songs with actions. We are getting tired of singing "The Wheels on the Bus".

David is getting so big and chunking out so much.  He is getting more curious about the world around him.  It is lots of fun to see him smiling more and more as he is focusing on the people around him.  When John or I talk around him he tries to follow our voices.

Monday 20th - John went in to work early so he could leave early on Wednesday.  Mid-morning Gloria came over and went with me to look at some more apartments.  After we got back we all ate some lunch. I tried to put Rachel down for a nap but since she had taken a short nap in the car she was not going to sleep which means I didn't get a nap either.  On his way home John checked out another townhome but it was a no go.  After he got home we ate dinner and got Rachel to bed.  Once she was asleep John and I spent some time scouring the internet for more places to live.

Tuesday 21st - We spent most of the morning at home and I worked on calling different houses and apartments to rent. I went to visit a basement apartment and loved it.  I made plans to go back with John. I spent the rest of the afternoon with the kids eating lunch and taking naps.  In the evening after work John drove out to Tooele to tutor.

Wednesday 22nd - In the morning I worked on finished a poster for Quinn.  We left a couple hours before we needed to be at the airport so that I could pick up his banner and some lunch for Quinn to eat at the airport during his layover.  After we got home we had some dinner and then went to look and a basement apartment.  We both really liked it and we are hoping it will work for us to move there.

Thursday 23rd - In the morning I went to look at a couple more places just to make sure that the basement was the right option for us.  I did not have a good feeling at either of the places I looked at. I went to Gloria's house for a few minutes to chat and then I hurried home to eat lunch and finish packing.  When John got home from work (a little earlier than normal) he packed up the car and we headed out. We made it to a rest area about 30 miles north of Cedar City before David became distraught and we stopped so I could feed him.  We went through a drive-through in Cedar for some dinner and then made it the rest of the way. Rachel had so much fun playing with toys so we let her stay up way too late.

Friday 24th - John and my mom went for a 5 mile run in the morning and right after they left both kids woke up nice and early so I was tired.  We spent the morning hanging out at the house and then my mom and I went to Swig and then to rent a movie.  That afternoon John, Quinn, and Gibson went to see the second Avengers movie. While they were gone my mom, Sierra, and I watched a chick-flick.  I took a little nap after our movie ended until a little bit after the boys got home.  We spent the evening relaxing together.

Saturday 25th - John went for a run in the morning and ran to tennis.  Quinn, Gibson, and I met him there later. Tennis was a lot of fun even though I didn't do very well.  After we got back to the house and ready for the day I ran some errands with my mom and Rachel and John stayed at the house with David.  As soon as we got back John took the car to Safelite for an inspection and to Costco for gas. That evening my grandma, Jodi and her family, and Kristi got there for dinner and talking.

Sunday 26th - David was up for a couple hours in the middle of the night and John was nice enough to stay up with him so I could try to catch up on a little sleep.  We went to the church at 9 for Gibson to be ordained to the office of a teacher and my cousin Katie stayed at the house to watch David.  We headed back home to try to get some more stuff ready for the dinner after church.  Rachel was super tired from getting up early and would not stay in nursery. John, my mom, Rachel, David, and myself left a little early to finish packing up our stuff and get everything out for the breakfast buffet.  After dinner John finished packing up the car and we headed out.  We managed to drive the whole way home without stopping, as David didn't wake up until we got to Mountain View. It was awesome.  We spent the rest of the evening unpacking and getting the kids to bed.

July 13th - July 19th

Rachel has decided that she loves taking showers. This was cute for the first time that she joined me, but got old when she tried to get in with John. It wasn't an issue, except that she took all of her clothes and diaper off trying to get in. She loves trying to help out with David and to take care of her babies.  One of her favorite things to do is sing and she is constantly wanting us to sing her songs.

David is growing quite a bit. His tummy is upset quite a bit, so he doesn't sleep as well as we would like, but hopefully that will get better soon. He is starting to get a little bit of a routine down.

Monday 13th - Rachel, David, and I hung out at home after being gone for so long. We did run a quick errand to the store to make sure we had some food for the next couple of days, but mostly we enjoyed a day at home.

Tuesday 14th - John went for a 6 mile run before work.  I had my 6 week follow-up doctor's appointment.  I ended up having to wait 45 minutes to get back which was not making either child happy.  After my appointment was over I got Rachel some lunch and then we went and looked at 3 apartments.  When we got home Rachel went down for a nap and just spent some time holding David (who didn't want to take a nap). That evening John tutored for a little while so he didn't get home until a little after 7. We watched America's Got Talent in between putting kids to bed.

Wednesday 15th - We started the morning with David throwing up all over himself, me, and the floor. I then had to get everything cleaned up. After we were all ready for the day we headed out for some errands.  Our first stop was getting some gas and then we headed into Costco followed by Walmart.  Once we got home we all had some lunch followed by naps. Terry stopped by to drop by some stuff after we got up and then I worked on helping Rachel clean up some of her toys.

Thursday 16th - Gloria came over and went out with me so that I could go and check out quite a few places that John and I were considering moving to. Unfortunately most of them are currently full and we just had to put our names on the waitlist. It was so nice to have Gloria along, and we were able to get to a ton of places. That evening, Becca and Joe came over with Becca's little sister to play 7 Wonders with us. Becca's sister won the first game, and Joe won the second. I didn't do very well either time.

Friday 17th - I went to check out a couple more apartments in the morning. We enjoyed an afternoon just being at home. In the evening, we ran some errands and took care of some items that we needed to get finished. David wasn't feeling very good, so we tried to keep him as content as we could.

Saturday 18th - John woke up and ran 14 miles in the morning. After he got home and got ready, we went out to run some more errands. Today was mostly about viewing potential places to move. We started with one that I really liked and John thought would work, but by the end of the day we weren't feeling it as much. We saw a townhome in a neighborhood that is for rent, but we are waiting for the property manager to get back in touch with us. We stopped and looked a couple of others, but they really weren't going to fit our needs. While we were out, we also stopped at Kohl's to get John a shirt for our family pictures, and we stopped by Costco to renew our membership. Once we got home, Rachel and I were able to get a nap while John played with David. At 6, John left with Ben to go get Brandon, so the three of them could meet up with Tyler and Jeremy and go to a Real soccer game. He said they had a blast, and Real won, so that is always good. I hung out with the kids at home while they were gone.

Sunday 19th - Rachel woke up early and John was nice enough to let me cuddle with David and sleep in a little longer. We spent the morning getting ready for church and relaxing.  It was a good first time back in my own ward.  After church we hurried home and John hurried back out to take treats to his home teaching families.  We had dinner when he got home and then hurried to go to the Kidd family pictures.  After we got home John put Rachel into the shower and then we all headed to bed.

July 6th - July 12th

Rachel continues to express her individuality and strong will. She wants to be like us in every way possible, and tries to help out when she can. Often this is cute, but not at all helpful.  She has wanted to sit on the grown-up potty a few times which gives us hope for potty training.

David is starting to get big. He is growing so fast. He is awake a lot more now and gets a bit frustrated because he can't do much. Tummy time may become one of his favorite things.

Monday 6th - My mom and I traveled back to St. George from Prescott, which took most of the day. After we got back, John and I FaceTimed for a little bit so that Rachel and John could see each other.

Tuesday 7th - My dad and Gibson left for AP camp at 5:00 in the morning. Later on in the morning we went to JC Pennies so I could look for some new shorts.  I didn't find any I liked on but my mom found a lot that she liked and got lots of her school shopping done.  We spent the rest of the day working at the house.

Wednesday 8th - I worked around the house with my mom and we had fun going to Swig and spending time together.

Thursday 9th - We spent the morning getting stuff done around the house and letting Rachel play.  In the afternoon we got to go to Target and my mom found a shelf she liked. While we were there I kept getting mad at Rachel because I thought she was taking her shoe off over and over.  My mom went to help her put her shoes back on at one point and realized that the strap had broken so while we were there I got Rachel some new shoes.

Friday 10th - My mom and I went to the store in the morning with David and Rachel.  I was still looking for some pants to fit so we went to Kohl's but their prices were ridiculous. We stopped at Costco on the way home for some samples and I ended up finding one pair of shorts and 3 disney movies. In the afternoon, my mom and I drove up to Beaver in separate cars so that we could give John the Kia, so that he could drive down after his half marathon on Saturday. We met up in Beaver, chatted for a little bit, and then everyone headed on their way. Rachel was not thrilled to be back in the car and David was awake for some of the trip back and he was not happy. We got home pretty late, and got everyone to bed.

Saturday 11th - Happy 7-11! John ran his half marathon in the morning at Bryce Canyon, and set a new PR at 2:09. He was rather happy with the result, but said it was one of his harder runs. He hopes that Timp goes better and that he can improve his time again. My mom and I hung out in the morning and I got my hair done. We went over to Wood Creations to get some crafts I want to do for David's room. John just barely beat us home. After we got back, my parents headed to the temple, and John and I hung out waiting for them to get back. John got to play with David and Rachel, and I got a nice nap. We started making dinner, and then my mom called and told us to wait until the next day. John fell asleep for a little bit on the couch after they returned and everyone was watching tv and eating dinner. Eventually we gave both kids a bath, and everyone went to bed.

Sunday 12th - The big day, and the reason we were in St. George for the weekend. We all got up and had a very nice breakfast, and then headed to church. At church, my dad was put in as the new Bishop as their old Bishop had been called into the Stake Presidency. My mom bore her testimony, and my dad spoke. It was a very good meeting. Rachel got upset when she couldn't go up to sit next to Pops or be with Noni while she was up there, but mostly did well. After Sacrament, we all went over to the Stake Center so the new bishopric could be set apart. After that, we said goodbye to my dad as he now needed to go back to church, and headed back to my parents to make dinner and get everything ready to head home. My mom came back after church to grab some food and say goodbye, and then she had to go to the stake center with my dad for some training. We finally got on the road and had a pretty good trip. We stopped in Scipio, where the bishop was still at the church so I was able to feed David in the Mother's Lounge there. It was late by the time we got home, and Rachel was up way too late, but with a late nap in the car, we figured it would probably be that way.

June 29th - July 5th

Rachel tries to be such a big helper and I can get her to do most things if I say it in the form of "will you be a big helper to mommy". She has also decided that she is going to feed her baby dolls the same way as I feed David.

David continues to grow and get bigger. He makes some cute noises, when they are made during the day. He is spending more time awake which frustrates him since he doesn't know what to do.

Monday 29th - Rachel, David, and I got ready in the morning and then
Gloria came over to help me take Rachel to the dentist.  She held
David and hung out in the waiting room while I went with Rachel to the
exam room. They were playing Frozen on the tv above the exam chair and
Rachel was very excited.  She did a good job and has no cavities which
is awesome. After the dentist Gloria went with me to the grocery store
so I didn't have to go shopping with 2 kids without help which was so
nice of her. Once we made it home and Gloria left we all ate some
lunch and then I put Rachel down for her nap.  David was having a hard
time being happy but once I got him to calm down and stop crying both
of us took naps as well.  After John got home we had some dinner and
then headed to Ross to look for a few odds and ends that we needed.
Once Rachel was in bed (talking and playing) John and I spent some
time relaxing with David.

Tuesday 30th - Both kids woke up really early so my day got off to a
tired start.  Mid-morning we went to Gloria's house and hung out and
made cards. After we got home I put Rachel down for her nap and then
ate a little lunch so David and I could take a little nap. Once we
were all awake we headed out to Bad Apple to get my screen repaired,
while we were walking in my phone fell out of the diaper bag and
cracked the screen pretty bad. They told me it would take a couple
hours so I headed back home and John got there soon after so we could
eat dinner.  After dinner we headed back to pick up my phone and then
stopped at Costco for a few things mostly diapers and wet wipes which
we are going through very fast. When we got home John helped his dad
with his computer and I got Rachel in the bath. Once she was in bed we
spent some time cleaning up the living room and relaxing.

Wednesday July 1st - David had an ultrasound for his hips to make sure
that they were lined up alright. The doctor said things looked great.
After John got off of work, he came home and watched the kids so that
I could go out and run a couple of errands. After I got back, we
packed up as much as we could so that things would be fairly quick on
Thursday and headed to bed.

Thursday 2nd - John woke up and went for a quick run before work. I
worked on getting things ready while he was at work, and then went to
pick him up from a trax station where he parked his car as he would be
taking the shuttle home from St. George on Sunday. After we got back
home, he packed up the car while I fed David, and we got on the road.
We stopped in Fillmore to feed David, but made fairly good time down
to St. George. Once we got there, we visited with my Dad for a bit and
then went to bed.

Friday 3rd - We woke up and headed over to tennis for a bit. Rachel
was a bit ornery, but she got to play a little bit. I enjoyed showing
David off to the women there that I knew. After tennis, we stopped by
Swig so I could get a drink for myself and for my Dad, went home and
packed up, and then headed out. We were able to make it to Boulder
City before we had to stop. We stopped at a McDonalds there so that
Rachel could play while we ate a quick lunch and I fed David. He
didn't eat as much as I was hoping, so we were a bit worried. Once we
got back on the road, I pumped a little bit so we could try giving
David a bottle while we drove. After we stopped for gas, I got into
the back to try and give him the bottle. Of course, he didn't really
want it, so after a while I got out of the back, and since John was
feeling a bit tired, I drove the rest of the way to Prescott. We
unloaded our stuff, and then my family wanted to go out to eat, so we
joined them at Cracker Barrel. It was good, but not as good as we were
kind of expecting. We headed home and got the kids to bed, and then
headed to bed ourselves.

Saturday 4th - John woke up early and went for a final long run before
Bryce next Saturday. After he got back, everyone got ready and we all
headed out to the parade. The parade was fun at the beginning, but
started to get really long. Rachel seemed to have a lot of fun, and
David slept. After the parade, we all headed to the courthouse where
all of the booths were set up. John fed David a bottle while my mom
and I walked around some of the booths. After we finished, we started
heading back to the car. While we were walking, it started raining
really hard, so John went and got the car and brought it back. Once we
got back to my grandma's, we put Rachel down for a nap, and I was able
to get a nap as well. In the afternoon after we woke up, we went to
take family pictures. Rachel didn't cooperate very well, so we weren't
able to get the family pictures I was hoping for. After we finished
with our pictures, we ran to target to try and get another video that
Rachel could watch while traveling as we used way too much data
streaming Netflix on the way down. We picked up a copy of Little
Mermaid, but the site we were supposed to use to download the digital
copy was having issues, so John got so frustrated that he just
downloaded Cars. We had fun hanging out with my family in the evening,
and Rachel had a blast playing. Eventually we headed to bed as John
and my Dad and Gibson were leaving really early the following morning.

Sunday 5th - David had a tough night, so I didn't get much sleep.
John, my dad, and Gibson woke up at 5 and headed out as soon as they
were packed up. The rest of us went to church at 9:00 and Rachel did
awesome at nursery. After we got back to my grandmas house everyone
but me, the kids, my mom, and Sierra. We all decided to take naps
which was really nice. We worked on cleaning up the house from having
31 people in it and then spent some time relaxing. After Rachel went
to bed we played a game of Ticket to Ride which was a lot of fun even
if I didn't win.
