August 24th - August 30th

Rachel seems to have discovered how to step her tantrums up a notch. She screams so loudly she makes herself cough sometimes and she has started hitting when she is really upset.

David is getting big, and is starting to move his legs and arms a lot. We think he is getting past his colic stage as with the move we couldn't find his drops for a couple of days.

Monday 24th - I got ready in the morning and headed over to our old place about noon. I then spent the afternoon cleaning and trying to get Rachel to take a nap. After John got off work, he came over and joined us and worked on the nails in the walls mostly. We stayed until about 7 and then headed home so we could get Rachel and David to bed.

Tuesday 25th - I got over to the apartment a little bit earlier so that I would have more time. Rachel played for a quite a while when she was supposed to be taking her nap, so she didn't sleep long. John came over after work again, and we were able to get everything finished and packed up. We were going to take a video and pictures of the apartment, but decided to go swimming one last time on Thursday and that we would do it then. We headed home, got the kids to bed, watched America's Got Talent, and then went to bed ourselves.

Wednesday 26th - I spent most of the day unpacking at our new house. I was able to get Rachel's room organized with all of her toys. John thinks she has too many toys. After John came home, he took Rachel and David for a walk while I made dinner. After dinner, I ran to Walmart to pick up a couple of items. I wanted to get a fence for my sewing area, but it was a lot more expensive than I thought, and they were out. After I got home, our landlady came down to help John install our microwave, but it turns out we don't have the hardware we need to install it, so hopefully Thursday night. We got the kids to bed, and then we went to bed.

Thursday 27th - John got up early and went for a 6 mile run. He started on the canal trail, but it was so dark that he didn't feel comfortable staying on it (and he lost it at an intersection). I got up after he got home so that I could shower before he left since the Relief Society President from our new ward was coming to visit. I spent the afternoon unpacking a few boxes. That evening after John got home we ate dinner and then headed over to our old apartment to go swimming. Becca and Joe came to join us and that was a lot of fun.

Friday 28th - I spent the morning unpacking and keeping the kiddos happy. In the afternoon Terry and Gloria came over to help me do some unpacking and then after John got home from work they went with us to our apartment checkout as witnesses. On our way home we stopped at Walmart to pick up some lights. After we got back we put the kiddos in the stroller and went over our new Bishop's house to pick some fresh peaches. That night my mom arrived with Quinn and Sierra. Rachel was super excited and got to bed late because she just wanted to play.

Saturday 29th - John went on an early morning run with his family and he took Quinn with him.  They went 10 miles and Quinn was very sore the rest of the day. After they got back John mowed the lawn. My mom, Sierra, the kiddos, and I went yard saleing and then to Kid-to-Kid to find some bigger clothes for david and a gate to go around my sewing area. That afternoon Gloria, Chelsi, Stacie, and Katie came over to do a craft. It was a lot of fun. We had a yummy dinner of hamburgers and corn on the cob. After dinner my cousin came over to see Quinn for the first time since he got back from his mission. We started a movie that night after Rachel was in bed but we were all pretty tired so we didn't finish it.

Sunday 30th - We had a fairly relaxed morning until my mom, Quinn, and Sierra left for a mission homecoming and then to head home. John made a yummy breakfast for everyone. We finished getting ready and then headed to church. It was the fifth Sunday so John and I got to stay together the whole time which was nice.  After church we hurried home to  change and grab something to eat.  We dropped the kiddos off at my in-laws and headed to a hospital in Bountiful to see our friends Kevin and Kindra and their adorable new baby.  We were there for a little bit waiting our turn with the cute new bundle and then we headed back to pick up the kids.  Rachel fell asleep on the way home so we took off her shoes and put her to bed. We got David to sleep and then got to spend some time together.

August 10th - August 16th

Rachel continues to grow and learn. She has started to string together full sentences this last week. She wants to do everything that we do, and to "help" with everything we do. She doesn't eat much as she is too busy running around, so we try to get her to drink milk and chocolate milk.

David makes really cute noises. His colic has been better most nights, but he still has moments where we can't get him to calm down and be happy. He seems to be most cheerful at about 10:30 at night, which is cute but we wish he would be cute the following morning instead.

Monday 10th - I took the kids out to run some errands in the morning. I had plans to go to paint the extra bathroom in our new place after, but errands took longer than I anticipated, so we didn't make it over. It actually worked out, though, because Joni hadn't been able to get the paint stuff out, so I wouldn't have been able to paint anyway. In the afternoon, Becca invited the kids and me to go swimming with her. Rachel had a blast, and David didn't like the cold water and breeze. Near the end, Rachel was so tired she just came over and sat with me, putting her head on my shoulder. So, I took her home, gave her a shower, and put her down for her nap. She was still asleep when John got home, so he woke her up so she would go to sleep later. We ate dinner and then John's parents came to join us for FHE. Unfortunately, about 5 seconds before they knocked, David threw up all over himself and John. So, after an unexpected delay for a bath, we had a quick lesson. After we finished, we headed out to show Terry and Gloria our new place. When we finished there, we went to Menchies for a treat. It was a lot of fun, but ended a little later than we had hoped.

Tuesday 11th - John got up early and went for a run with Stacie. The kids and I hung out at home and I started working on packing up the bookshelves in the extra room. When John got home, we took a trip to Home Depot and Lowes to see if we could find some returned paint we could use to paint the bathroom at our new place (wanted to cover a very bright purple). We were unsuccessful at finding a good color, but the lady at Lowes was very helpful, and we had a plan that we would use the paint our landlord had as a primer and then cover that in a different color after. We then headed home, got some dinner, and went to bed.

Wednesday 12th - I had plans to go and paint in the morning, but as happens with kids, plans had to change. Rachel and David were both having tough mornings, and errands took longer than expected. So, I had time to tape most of the bathroom before I ran out of tape and the kids had had enough. John and I discussed it and decided to meet in the evening (after I got more tape) to paint together. So, in the evening that is what we did. I brought dinner, and we painted the bathroom while trying to convince Rachel to stay out. We got the first coat on, but it needed another in some places as the purple was showing through.

Thursday 13th - I had a dentist appointment in the morning. No Cavities! Hurray! After I finished up there, I headed over and finished painting the bathroom. I then headed home and worked on getting the kids asleep. Rachel went down alright, but David did not want to fall asleep. After an hour, I finally got him to sleep, but shortly after a couple of kids rang our doorbell a couple of times and pounded on the door. It was so sudden and loud that I was thinking the building must be on fire. No. They were selling lemonade for 50 cents. Needless to say, David was awake and I was not happy. After John got home, I took David and went to a baby shower for our good friend Kindra. It was a lot of fun, and she loved the carseat cover and nursing cover I made for her and kept showing people. It made me feel so good. John and Rachel played at home while I was gone, and worked on packing.

Friday 14th - I took the kids over to the new place and did some work on the new place. In the afternoon, Gloria was so nice and came over to watch the kids until John got home so that I could go help Becca set up her classroom. John got off work early so that he could get home to be with the kids. After he got home, he took a load over to the new place. After I got finished with Becca, John and I enjoyed a relaxing evening at home.

Saturday 15th - John got up early and went for a run. After he got home, we headed out to Bountiful to go to breakfast one last time with Kevin and Kindra before she has her baby. When we got to the place though, it had closed. We went to another place instead. It was really yummy. After we finished, we took the load of stuff we had packed up the night before to the new place. We then went home and John took another load over while Rachel was sleeping. After she woke up, we took one last load over and John put together the crib. We then went to Walmart to get food for our last week here, headed home, and went to bed.

Sunday 16th - We got to sleep in a little bit, which was wonderful. We spent the morning relaxing and enjoying a yummy breakfast. Rachel had a bit of trouble staying in nursery at church, so John got to spend about 40 minutes in with her. Of course, as soon as they set up the table for snacks, she grabbed her own chair, sat down, and was fine. I went to check on her later, and she was still fine but wasn't eating her snack. We don't get her. After church, John took Rachel with him home teaching while I stayed home with David. When he got back, Rachel was asleep, so we laid her on the couch to see if she would wake up. After about 15 minutes, we woke her up so she would go to bed later. We ate dinner, and our friends Becca and Joe came over for one last night of games at this apartment. After they left, John loaded some stuff in his car to take to the new place tomorrow, and we headed to bed.

July 3rd - July 9th

Rachel is starting to be more helpful with David which is really nice. She loves 'helping' with everything John and I are doing which is really cute but most of the time way more of a hindrance than a help. She has been really into saying sorry and giving us hugs, but most of the time we are not sure what she is apologizing for so we just enjoy the hugs.

David is starting to smile more and get a little more of a personality.  He used to love laying on our legs looking up at us but now he prefers being able to see what is going on around him and wants us to face time out.

Monday 3rd - Rachel woke up at 7:30 AM, after sleeping for 13 hours. She had had a couple of busy days while my family was up. The kids and I went out on a shopping excursion in the morning. In the afternoon after John got off work, we went to our new apartment to sign the lease and do an inspection. Our landlady has a few big projects to finish up before we fully move in, but she also just got a job yesterday, so she may be a little rushed to get some things finished. It turns out the previous tenants didn't clean much when they left either, but we are going to do that since our landlady is helping us so much this month. After we finished, we stopped by Costco to get some diapers and headed home. We got Rachel in bed, and then I went over to John's parents and Walmart to get some cleaning supplies.

Tuesday 4th - Becca and I went for a walk in the morning with the kids before she had to go to work. After she left, I took the kids over to our new place and began cleaning. I spent a lot of time and was able to improve some things, but the people before us really left a mess, and it is going to take a little while to get it all clean. After I got home and showered I got a little nap while Rachel was sleeping.  That evening after John got home we ate dinner and then spent the evening relaxing and watching America's Got Talent.

Wednesday 5th - My friend Becca came over in the morning and went with me to work on cleaning the new place.  We were there for over 3 hours and Rachel went with our new landlady Joni for part of it which made it much easier to clean.  On the way home we stopped and picked up Zuppas to go for lunch.  After lunch Rachel went down for her nap and I finally got to shower and get ready for the day.

Thursday 6th - I went back to the house to work on cleaning some more.  We were there for a few hours until the kids were super done and we headed home for lunch.  That afternoon was naps for the kids at different times so I wasn't able to squeeze one in. We spent the evening all hanging out together after John got home from work.

Friday 7th - In the morning I went to the new house with the kids for just a couple hours because they were both going crazy. We headed back home for some lunch and naps.  The kids and I met John at his parents house after he got off work.  Gloria watched Rachel and David for us and John and I headed over to the house and he worked on cleaning the carpet and I worked on cleaning everything else.  We didn't make it back to pick up the kids until 9:30 (sorry Gloria) and hurried to feed David and then we took the kiddos home.

Saturday 8th - We had a lot of errands to run so we headed out.  One of our stops was Costco for some stuff that was on sale.  We won't need any of it until after we move though so we took it over to our new place.  While we were there the new appliances were delivered so John helped move them in and the old ones out. It took us longer there then we had planned so we had to hurry home to get ready for the baptism.  We went to Britton's baptism and it was beautiful.  After the baptism we went to IKEA to look for a new desk for John.  We didn't find a desk but I found a dining table that I love.  After IKEA we headed home for dinner and putting Rachel to bed since she hadn't gotten a true nap.  After Rachel was in bed our friends Becca and Joe came over for games. We always have so much fun with them.

Sunday 9th - We all slept in a tiny bit (as much as you sleep in with children).  We spent the morning relaxing and getting ready for church.  Church went well with Rachel getting to go back to nursery after a couple weeks off and David sleeping for most of it.  After church we came home and I took a really short nap while John walked to the mailbox with Rachel and David slept. John made hamburgers for dinner which were delicious.  We spent the evening just hanging out as a family which was a lot of fun.

July 27th - August 2nd

Rachel has been adding a 't' to the end of lots of words which makes them sound really funny.  She tries to help with David and loves to bring me things for him (whether or not he needs or wants them). Her favorite is to help me give him a bath which makes me nervous.  She still loves running around and playing, it is very hard to get her to eat because she just wants to move.

David is now 2 months old and getting more interested in the world around him.  His neck is starting to get stronger but not all the way yet.  He is starting to smile more when people talk to him and that is always fun to see.

Monday 27th - In the morning I went grocery shopping with the kids.  For lunch I met up with my friends Becca and we went to Zuppa's.  That afternoon was nap time. After John got home and we had dinner and then we went for a walk and stopped to let Rachel on the play on the playground on the way back.  When we got home we decided to play a little bit of Just Dance.

Tuesday 28th - John got up early and went for a 6 mile run in preparation for his half marathon on Saturday. Later in the morning we headed over to Gloria's for some girl time and Rachel had a blast playing with her cousins. We headed home after lunch and took naps.  That evening after John got home and we had eaten we headed over to the Temple to take some blessing pictures of David and some family shots.  We got Rachel to smile and look by telling her she could have some ice cream when we got home.  When we got home we gave her the ice cream we promised and then put both kids to bed.  After they were asleep John and I watched America's Got Talent and then went to bed.

Wednesday 29th - The kids and I went on a walk in the morning and stopped at the park on the way back.  I spent the rest of the morning working on cleaning up the house. John stopped by Costco on his way home and applied for the AmEx card because we had realized it would save us a ton on gas alone. After he got home, we had dinner and got a fantastic email. We got the basement apartment we were so excited about! We feel so relieved to have a place to move to, and are very excited to get away from our current place. In the evening Becca and Joe came over and we played Ticket to Ride. John won, and I came in second. Becca and Joe were really close, and did really well for only their second time playing.

Thursday 30th - John got up early and went for a final run before the Timpanogos half. Shortly after he got home (and way too early in the morning) Rachel woke up. She was very cranky, and very sad when John left.  I went on a walk with Becca and after we went to the store together which was fun.  John picked up Gibson from my aunt's house on his way home from work and Gib and I went to play tennis and John bravely took both kids and went to get an admissions test on the Kia.  For dinner we went over to John's parents which was super delicious.  After dinner we went with Terry and Gloria to Menchies and then hurried home to put the kids to bed.

Friday 31st - I went on another walk with Becca.  After lunch I drove to Lehi and picked Quinn up so he could spend a couple hours hanging out with me and the kids.  My mom drove up from St. George with my grandma and got to my house about the same time as John got home from work.  My mom borrowed our Aveo and took Rachel and my siblings down to the family reunion.  John and I went to our new apartment and went over the lease with our new landlady.  We ended up sitting and chatting for 2 hours which was a lot of fun.  We went to Walmart on the way home to pick up the sandwiches for David's blessing.

Saturday August 1st - John got up at 3:15 to get ready and head out for his race. I got up a little after 5 to get ready and head down to American Fork where John's race ended. He did a great job and got a new PR at 2:04:40, I am so proud of him.  After he finished and I picked him up we headed to my mom's hotel in Provo so John could shower and get ready for the day.  I went with my mom, Sierra, and my kiddos up to the campground for my family reunion and Quinn hung out with John while he got ready.  Once we got to the reunion we sat around and talked to everyone and did a "quiz" about the family history.  Rachel had fun with the other little kids picking dandelions. After lunch we went down to a little lake and Rachel had a blast filling buckets with mud from the water's edge. We went back to the campground for dinner and then John and I headed home with the kiddos.

Sunday 2nd - We spent the morning getting ready and Quinn took a few pictures of David in his outfit with the family blanket.  We got to church early so that we could fill out the paperwork for the blessing.  We had lots of family come and support us and John gave a beautiful blessing.  After Sacrament Meeting we went outside and took some pictures with different groupings.  Once we were done taking pictures we hurried back to our apartment to change and get all the food.  We headed to the park and met up with all the friends and family who could come and enjoyed visiting with everyone.  The party broke up pretty fast as the wind picked up and started blowing the food away. Jeremy came back to our apartment to wait for Heather and their boys so we could say goodby to all of them before they left for Georgia.  Rachel was really tired and kept having meltdowns.  Once I finally got her to calm down and sit on my lap she fell asleep.  We tried a few times to wake her up even giving her a short bath but she wouldn't really wake up so we put her to bed a little before 6:30 and she was fast asleep.  Becca and Joe came over to play some games with us and we got to play for a little over 3 hours since we started so early.  It was a lot of fun, we played some 7 Wonders and some Nurts.
