May 25th - May 31st

Rachel is striving to show her independence. She likes to help us a lot of the time, but that often means that she is causing more work. It is very cute though. She likes to get into a lot of things that she isn't supposed to, and tries to test us to see if we will react. She seems to know when to cut it out and become very cute though.

Monday 25th - In the morning we went on a Kidd family run/walk.  John ran a little over 7 miles and I walked 2 while pushing Rachel.  We went to a close park and had donuts and hot chocolate.  After we got home John, Rachel and I headed over to the apartment pool, which was finally open.  It was a lot of fun but we didn't stay too long because the water wasn't really heated and Rachel was getting cold. When we got home we all got ready and had some lunch.  Rachel and I took a nap while John played on his computer.  After Rachel got up we headed to Brandon and Stacie's house for a Memorial Day BBQ.  It was a lot of fun to all just sit around and talk.  Rachel had so much fun playing on the playground and in the little tikes car.

Tuesday 26th - Rachel and I got up and got ready and then I worked on sewing a car seat cover.  I had my last doctors appointment before lunch and found that baby boy is still breech.  After Rachel and I got home we had some lunch and I got to talk to my mom for a little bit.  In the afternoon Rachel and I both took and nap.  After John got home we had dinner and spent the evening hanging out.  We got to watch America's Got Talent. I always like watching the tryouts.

Wednesday 27th - John went to work like normal and Rachel and I spent the day at home.  I got another carseat cover sewn and Rachel had lots of fun playing with all her toys. John was going to tutor a couple of his students for the last time, but the family didn't need him to tutor, so he got to come home.

Thursday 28th - John got up early and went for a 6 mile run. Rachel spent the morning playing and I worked on cutting out some fabric.  John went to Costco on his way home since we were totally out of a couple things and I really wanted some watermelon.  That evening after dinner we went to the stake center to have our interviews for our Temple Recommends.

Friday 29th - In the morning Rachel and I went to Mckenzie's (my niece) graduation brunch.  Rachel and I didn't go to the graduation because we had so many errands to run and I didn't think I would be able to sit through another graduation with Rachel.  We got all our errands done for the next week (since I will be a little busy).  That evening after John got home from work we took Rachel to a babysitters house and headed to the Temple.  It was very interesting because they asked us to be the witness couple and I didn't feel like I could say no.  The session was very nice but I was very worn out by the end.  When we went to pick up Rachel she was not happy and screamed bloody murder when we put her in the car.  She was having so much fun and she did not want to leave.

Saturday 30th - Happy Birthday John! John started his day by going on a 12 mile morning run.  After he got home (and showered) I made him get back into bed so that I could bring him breakfast.  Rachel was super helpful and just kept trying to open his presents. Once we were all ready for the day we headed to the zoo.  It took us 20 minutes to get into the park which was a bit ridiculous. When we got inside we realized that we forgot sunscreen but since we are all so fair we paid a astronomical price for a small bottle in the gift shop.  We went around half the zoo spending the most time at the sea lions because Rachel did not want to leave. She loved looking in the water and watching them.  We stopped for lunch which we packed (since we weren't going to pay for zoo food) and then went around the rest of the park.  We did get to see a short elephant show which was a lot of fun.  After we left and were back in the car Rachel fell asleep in less then 5 minutes. She was so tired.  When we got home, John managed to carry her upstairs where she went back to sleep.  We had to wake her up when it was time to leave for dinner.  We met our friends Becca and Joey at Applebee's where they helped to celebrate John's birthday.  At the end of dinner, I got the waiters to sing to John to give him his free dessert.  When we got home Becca and Joey came to eat some cake with us and watch John blow out his candles (plus then I didn't feel stupid singing by myself). After they left John had fun playing on his computer for a little bit.

Sunday 31st - When we all got up in the morning John made pancakes for breakfast with lots of extras for future breakfast (we put them in the freezer). At church Rachel was starting to get a little cranky since it was nap-time and John had to take her out once because she was hitting.  They did officially release me from primary so for a short moment John and I are both calling-less. After we got home Rachel took a short nap and John and I worked on making dinner.  That night Becca and Joey came over for a couple games of Nurtzs and 7 Wonders.

May 18th - May 24th

Rachel continues to learn and grow. She seems to know exactly how far she can push us before she needs to be extra cute. At one time we pondered if she had a little bit of ADD, but we have since decided that she is the complete opposite. She gets so focused on some item or objective that she completely tunes everything else out until she has accomplished her "mission." This gets really frustrating when we are trying to finish changing her diaper, but the wet-wipe container is open and she NEEDS to close it.

Monday 18th - Rachel woke up early so we cuddled in my bed and both fell back asleep for another hour which was so nice. After we got up and got ready we headed to the store to get some stuff for traveling and some stuff for John while I was gone. We spent the afternoon taking naps and working on cleaning the house and packing suitcases.  John tutored after work so he didn't make it home until about 7:00. We spent the night relaxing.

Tuesday 19th - I got up at the same time as John so I could finish packing.  John left a little later than normal so that he could help me pack up the car. I had a doctor's appointment at 9:00 and we left for St. George as soon as it was over. Rachel stayed awake for most of the trip but the only stop we made was in Beaver for some lunch. After we got there, Rachel had a blast playing with all the toys. That evening I took Sierra to her graduation rehearsal and as soon as it was over we headed to Gibson's GWA graduation.  It was fun and Gibson got to speak because he was National Junior Honor Society president and one of the 4 students who made it through all 9 years of the school.

Wednesday 20th - We started Sierra's birthday with breakfast at IHOP where a couple of her old GWA friends met us to surprise her. After breakfast we went to Walmart really quickly for some dinner items.  We headed back to the house where Rachel played and took a nap and everyone else worked on getting stuff ready.  A little after 1:00 we headed to the college for Sierra's graduation.  It was so weird to see my little sister graduate but I am very proud of her.  After the graduation we went back to my parents house and had a delicious BBQ. My aunt Kristi and her kids came down for the graduation and then to the BBQ so it was a lot of fun to visit with all of them.  We had some delicious Costco cake after dinner which I always enjoy.

Thursday 21st - Happy Birthday to me! My family started the day by making me breakfast in bed.  Rachel was super excited and helped me open my presents. While I was eating I got to FaceTime with my grandma which was fun. Sierra watched Rachel for me while I got ready for the day and then Rachel and I headed to my mom's work to visit for a couple minutes. On the way back to the house I stopped at Swig for a fun treat.  That afternoon my mom took Rachel, Sierra, and me to the movies to celebrate my birthday. We saw Age of Adaline and I loved it. We went to dinner at Mongolian BBQ which I always love.  My aunt met us there which was really fun.  My mom was nice enough when we got back to give Rachel a bath so I didn't have to. John spent the evening doing visits for our upcoming Ward Conference and didn't get home until after 9.

Friday 22nd - I got up early so that I could finish packing up.  My mom helped me load the car up and then I headed out of town. My mom had gotten a iPad holder for the back of the head rest so that Rachel could watch Frozen on the way home.  She liked the movie but she was in a cranky mood.  We only had to stop when I would pull off the road to start the movie over or fix whatever Rachel needed fixing at the time.  After we made it home I unloaded part of the car and then Rachel and I both took much needed naps. After John got home and finished unpacking the car, we ate dinner and had fun spending time as a family.

Saturday 23rd - John went on a 12 mile run in the morning. After he got home and we were all ready for the day we headed out to do some shopping at Costco and Walmart.  Once we were home and had the car unloaded, John took the car over to the gas station and vacuumed it out really well. When he got back he moved Rachel's carseat over and installed the base for the infant seat.  Rachel had so much fun playing in the trunk while John worked.  After he was all finished we headed back inside and Rachel and I both took a nap and John got to play on his computer (he even gave in and took a little nap). That evening after dinner our friends Becca and Joe came over for games.  We played a few rounds of 7 Wonders and it was a lot of fun. After they left John watched the end of the RSL game and he was very happy they won.

Sunday 24th - Since I wasn't home on my birthday John gave me breakfast in bed to celebrate (3 times in 1 month, whoot whoot). We spent the rest of the morning getting ready for church and I worked on preparing my lesson. We tried to put Rachel down for a nap but she did not go to sleep.  During Sacrament meeting Rachel had lots of fun watching the baby boy behind us. After we got home John made us dinner and we spent lots of time relaxing together which is always fun. Rachel was overly tired, so we got her in bed as quickly as we could. She was just distraught, so we FaceTimed with my parents to calm her down a little bit so she would go to sleep.

Rachel's Two Year Old Pictures

Rachel's two year old pictures turned out so cute! She had such a blast playing with the lemons and playing inside the little house.

May 11th - May 17th

Rachel had her doctors appointment this week.  She weighs 25.9 lb. which is 48th percentile, she is 35.5 inches tall which is 90th percentile, and her head is 19.5 inches which is 75th percentile. Her head is finally fitting her body but she is still really tall which is why people always think she is so much older then she is.  She continues to call John "dadjohn" and we can't figure out how to get her to stop.  She had discovered that she loves coloring and she does it on and off all day. The trick now is to figure out how to get her to keep it on paper.

Monday 11th - I spent the morning sewing squares for baby boy's quilt together.  At nap time Rachel and I both took a little nap which was nice, I have been getting so tired later.  After John got home and we had some dinner we met up with our friends Becca and Joe and went on a long (for me) walk.  We walked to the Arctic Circle and back and while we were there we let Rachel have some fun playing on the play set.

Tuesday 12th - Rachel had her 2 year old check up in the morning.  She was super good for the doctor and didn't cry when he did his examination.  He was very impressed and said that most 2 year olds freak out.  When we were finished at the doctor we headed to Walmart to do some much needed grocery shopping.  After we got home we had some lunch and then Rachel got to play for a little while.  We both took a nice nap in the afternoon.  When John got home we had some dinner and then had fun spending time as a family.

Wednesday 13th - After a very long night with Rachel. John went for a morning run. He went 6 miles.  Rachel got up early before 6:30.  I spent the morning finishing sewing all the squares for the quilt together and Rachel had fun playing.  Right before lunch I took Rachel over to a lady in the ward's house who had agreed to watch Rachel while I went to my doctors appointment. I ended up being at the doctor a long time because they were worried that he had turned so they wanted to do an ultrasound.  They were correct, baby boy is now breech and we are just praying he will flip back over.  After I picked up Rachel we headed home so she could take a much needed nap.  She slept for quite a while but as soon as she got up we headed out so that I could run to Joann's for some quilt binding and some batting.  On the way home we stopped at my aunt Jodi's house so I could drop off a couple things to her.  When we got home I started dinner cooking and John got home from tutoring just in time to eat and for us to watch Survivor. After we got Rachel to bed we watched a couple episodes of CSI: Cyber we had stored up.

Thursday 14th - Rachel and I went over to Terry and Gloria's house in the morning and Gloria helped me tie the quilt (she did most of it since I was much slower then her). After we got home and had some lunch and then we both took naps because Rachel was very cranky.  When John got home we ate dinner and then headed out on some errands.  We went to BuyBuy Baby first and got a few things for baby boy.  Our next stop was Target so I could try to exchange a couple things.  The last stop was Costco to get stuff for the Elder's Quorum BBQ. After we got Rachel to bed John and I watched the season finale of CSI: Cyber that we had recorded.

Friday 15th - I worked on sewing for a little bit in the morning and then went visit teaching.  After Rachel and I got home I worked on sewing for a little bit while she played and then we had lunch and nap time. That evening after John got home we headed to the Elder's Quorum Presidency BBQ. It was pretty cold and windy but Rachel had a blast on the playground and in the sand.  After dinner we went over to the president's house to watch a movie but we had to leave before the end to get Rachel home to bed.  Once she was asleep John and I watched the season finale of Amazing Race.

Saturday 16th - John got up really early and went on a 10 mile run.  After he got home he showered off and headed out to get a haircut. When he got home we all headed out to Target which made Rachel very happy.  After we got home we all had some lunch and then Rachel and I took naps. That evening our friends Kevin and Kindra came over for dinner.  Dinner was fun and after dinner we watched Big Hero 6 and I helped Kindra work on her baby registry.

Sunday 17th - John had a meeting at the church in the morning and then we spent the rest of the morning relaxing together as a family.  Church was nice, Rachel was very cuddly during Sacrament Meeting.  After church we came back home and got to spend the evening together as a family again which was really nice.  John and I had fun during the day watching Big Bang Theory.

May 4th - May 10th

Rachel continues to grow and learn. Most of the time that is great, but unfortunately that combined with her stubbornness occasionally leads to bad situations. She has now started calling John "Dadjohn" and we can't get her to stop. On a cuter note, she loves Frozen, and belts out "Let it GO" very loudly. It is very cute.

Monday 4th - I worked on sewing and Rachel played with toys and watched a movie.  John tutored after work and after he got home he had dinner and spent the evening relaxing together.

Tuesday 5th - Rachel and I spent the day at home woking on cleaning the house and sewing.  After work John stopped to do some tutoring and then hurried home to eat and change and headed to the church for Elder's Quorum meeting. He got home just in time to tuck Rachel into bed.

Wednesday 6th - During the day I worked on sewing and Rachel worked on making a mess with all her toys.  After John got home from work or tutoring and we had dinner and then headed out to do some mother's day shopping for our moms and doing some grocery shopping.  Once we got home and Rachel was in bed John and I watched Survivor and CSI: Cyber.

Thursday 7th - I worked on sewing together baby boy's quilt and Rachel had fun playing.  John got home from work a little late because of a meeting at work.  When he got home we had dinner and then John took apart our bed frame and put together our new bed frame with a headboard.  We were super bummed and I felt bad for John because after he had it all set up we realized it was never going to fit. John had to take it back apart and put our old one back together.

Friday 8th - Happy Birthday to Rachel! We started the morning by waking Rachel up by singing happy birthday and giving her presents.  My parents FaceTimed with us while Rachel opened her presents and she loved having more people to pay attention to her. John had to leave for work and I made Rachel some muffins for breakfast.  She had a super fun day playing with all her new toys and watching a couple new movies.  In the morning she even got to FaceTime with my grandma. After John came home we had Rachel's favorite dinner (noodles). I made pink cupcakes with pink frosting for her.  John's parents, Brigitta, Grace, and Boston came over to sing to her and watch her blow out candles.  Rachel loves having people sing to her so she was very happy to have lots of people paying so much attention to her. Rachel enjoyed eating the frosting off the top of the cupcakes. After we finished celebrating Rachel's birthday and she had gone to bed John and I watched Amazing Race.

Saturday 9th - John went on a run in the morning, he had planned to run 10 miles but it started running pretty hard so he only ran 8 miles.  After he got home we all finished getting ready for the day and headed out.  We ran a couple errands on our way to John's parents rec. center for some swimming.  A couple of John's brothers were also there with their kids, it was so much fun.  At the beginning Rachel wasn't so sure what she though and wouldn't leave our laps but she warmed up to the water eventually and had an absolute blast.  She loved the whirlpool and running around in the shallow end. When we were done at the pool we went to John's parent's house to shower.  We headed back to our apartment with Brigitta and she babysat Rachel while John and I went on a tour of the hospital and then to see the Avengers movie.  It was so good and so fun to go on a date.  When we got home John took Brigitta home and he ended up taking Rachel with him because she was not going to let him leave without her. It was nice to get a little break while they were gone.

Sunday 10th - We woke up to Rachel calling for us nice and early. We tried to pull her into bed to get some more sleep, but she wasn't having it. So, John got up with her and made me a yummy breakfast in bed. He made me a breakfast burrito with eggs and sausage, with bacon, watermelon, and honeydew melon on the side with orange Julius to drink. It was super yummy. I also got a couple awesome cards and two new books. Rachel was rather cranky, so we put her down for a nap at 10. She slept for about an hour while we finished getting ready for church. At church, she was still a little cranky during sacrament. The priesthood was taking over the third hour, which made sharing time very loud. John took over for me near the end of sharing time so I could join the rest of the women in the cultural hall for a get together with refreshments. It was a bit awkward, and though it was a nice thought, it didn't seem very well planned. I felt so bad for the primary president when the transition was happening. She looked very concerned. John said that one class right by him didn't have any adults in it. After church, we came home and John baked some potatoes and cooked some steak for our delicious dinner. After dinner John put Rachel in the bath and we put her down for bed and hung out. I got to read one of my new books that John got me.

April 27th - May 3rd

Rachel continues to grow, and we think she is hitting a growth spurt. Her favorite word is "yucky," which is cute until she says it 20 times. She is very strong willed, but wants to help out in all that she can. She wants to do everything on her own, but will ask if she can't do it. She also knows to say sorry (most of the time) when she does something she shouldn't and always gives a hug.

Monday 27th - In the morning, I worked on sewing for the All About Mom expo I was going to be at on Saturday. For lunch, I was able to meet up with one of my good friends for lunch. It was a lot of fun. Rachel at a ton of food at lunch. A full kid's bowl of pasta, half of my breadstick, and half of my friend's breadstick. Then we headed back, and I sewed some more. We FaceTimed with John in the evening, and I headed to bed.

Tuesday 28th - I sewed, sewed, and sewed. My mom and I went later and bought a cute blessing outfit for Baby Boy. After that, she took me out for dinner to Jimmy John's, which I had been craving for a while. It was really nice. John called and we were able to do FaceTime for a little bit before I put Rachel down for bed.

Wednesday 29th - Wednesday morning Rachel had pictures. She was super cute, and cooperated. After that, we went to the bridal shower for one of my friends from high school. It was a lot of fun to be able to see her again. After that, we stopped and said hi to my dad, got the tire pressure checked, and headed home. We were able to drive all the way to Santaquin before Rachel woke up. We made it home, and John made breakfast burritos for dinner.

Thursday 30th - I spent most of the day sewing. Rachel was on one for most of the morning, but mellowed out a little later. Her less than an hour nap didn't help though. For lunch, she ate two bowls of macaroni and cheese. But for dinner she didn't want anything. John had to stay late at work for a meeting on a paper they are working on, so he didn't make it home until late. We got Rachel ready for bed, and went to bed ourselves.

Friday May 1st - Friday was the final day of preparations. I spent the morning sewing, and ran some errands to get some final items for the Expo on Saturday. John was able to come home a little early to help me get everything organized and packed up. We watched Amazing Race as a break and got Rachel to bed.

Saturday 2nd - Rise and shine early! John went for a 10 mile run at 5, and I woke up shortly after that to start getting ready. John had packed up the car the night before, so we were able to leave home around 7:30 to head over to the Expo. We got everything set up while Rachel cried at us. At 9, everything was ready, and John took Rachel home. No one showed up for a little while, but then people started to file through. I was a little less than impressed with a few things, but overall it was a good experience. I was able to sell a few items and made back more than the cost, so that was good. Gloria was so kind and brought me lunch and stayed with me for the afternoon. At around 3:30, we started to pack up. John and Rachel came over and picked us up, and we headed home. After we got home, John and I went to Leatherby's for dinner because one of John's good friends from there was working his last shift. It wasn't the best quality, but our server (John's friend) was great, so it made for a good night. We made it home and headed to bed.

Sunday 3rd - Rachel woke up too early for John, but at her normal time. We hung out in the morning before church. At church, Rachel was starting to get tired during Sacrament, and was very active. She went to Nursery well though. My primary class was good, and then we headed home. John made dinner, and some friends came over for games. Rachel was really tired, so we were able to get her to bed early. We played three games of 7 Wonders, and I won the last game. It was a lot of fun.

April 20th - April 26th

Rachel is getting to a wonderful strong-willed stage. That is our nice
way of saying the Terrible Two's are approaching. She is really funny
with some of the things she does like copying hard works but not
repeating some of the easy stuff. She is learning the hard way that
she can't hit or throw things when she doesn't get her way and has
spent quite a few minutes in timeout. She loves playing outside and
would probably spend all day on the playground if I let her. She is
really cute with her dolls and will wrap them up in the blankets and
bounce or rock them.

Monday 20th - I woke up feeling awful and Rachel still wasn't feeling
great.  I still had a lot to do though so I let Rachel just play and I
finished cutting out 3 car-seat covers and 3 nursing covers.  At nap
time Rachel was acting super tired and cranky but despite all that she
played in her room instead of ever taking a nap which meant I didn't
get a nap either.  John stopped at Walmart to pick up some oatmeal for
Rachel and some Tylenol for me.  We spent the evening together.  After
we put Rachel to bed she had a hard time relaxing and just kept
sobbing no matter how many times we went in.  Finally we went in gave
her some Tylenol and John gave her a blessing.

Tuesday 21st - Rachel and I spent the morning at home.  She played
while I worked on sewing.  After we both took naps and I got a little
more work done we headed over to Terry and Gloria's.  I got a pattern
for burp clothes from Gloria and then Rachel and I stayed to eat
dinner since John was tutoring.  John got home a few minutes after us
and hurried to eat and change before heading out to do Elder's Quorum
visits.  I gave Rachel her bath and we cleaned up and John made it
home in time to help tuck Rachel into bed which always makes her
happy.

Wednesday 22nd - I went to the office in the morning to pick up my new
business cards. I spent the rest of the day working on car-seat and
nursing-covers with a small break for a nap.  Rachel had a very cranky
day as she is still trying to get over her illness.  After John and I
got Rachel to bed we spent some time relaxing and watching Survivor
and CSI-Cyber.

Thursday 23rd - John got up early and went for a 6 mile run. Rachel
woke up before he left, and was sad when he left. After we got ready,
Rachel and I went to Walmart to pick up a couple items, and then we
stopped by Costco to fill the car up with gas. My parents drove up so
that they (and we) could go to my cousin's wedding. When John got
home, we headed over to the wedding. Rachel had a lot of fun running
around and eating as much dessert as we would give her. We had to
leave a little early to get her home to bed. My parents came a little
later. We hung out for a little bit, and then headed to bed.

Friday 24th - John went to work in the morning. I spent the morning
frantically packing for Rachel and myself. I left for Jodi's house a
little after 2 and took Gibson with me. Gibson and a couple of our
cousins rode in John's car and I drove Rachel and me. It worked
perfect so that Rachel could get the nap she desperately needed. We
went through the Payson Temple open house and it was absolutely
gorgeous. It was the first open house John had ever been through and I
was excited we got to go together. After the Temple we headed to Costa
Vida for some dinner and then John headed back home and the rest of my
family headed for home. My mom drove my car for me since I have such a
hard time driving at night. We spent the first half of the trip with
Rachel asleep and then spent the last hour singing to Rachel who was
having bad dreams and tired of being in the car.

Saturday 25th - My mom and I spent most of the day running lots of
errands so that I could spend the rest of my visit just working. We
got a bridal shower gift for my friend and a super cute outfit for
Rachel's 2 year old pictures.  That evening we watched Amazing race
which I always enjoy. John went for a 12 mile run in the morning and
in the evening he went  to his brothers house to play games and had
tons of fun.

Sunday 26th - We headed to church in the morning but Rachel and I only
stayed for Sacrament meeting since she is still sick enough I didn't
want to take her to nursery and I was feeling pretty crummy.  We both
took a super short nap (mine was thanks to Rachel's) and had a nice
dinner. We spent some time relaxing and watching Rachel play and we
even watched Meet the Mormons which I hadn't see before. Rachel and I
FaceTimed with John while she was in the bath.
