March 23rd - March 29th

Rachel is learning new words and associating sounds with objects. We can ask her now what the bird and train say, and she will usually respond correctly. The kitty still says kitty though. And just about other animal pants like a dog. She loves her dress-up high heals and wears them all the time.  She carries her dolls around and pretends to feel them and give them drinks, sometimes she even reads to them.

Monday 23rd - I spent the day cutting out the fabric for a carseat cover and a nursing cover.  After my mom got home we started working on cutting out the fabric for baby boy's bedding.  It was a very fruitful day. John didn't have too much going on after work, so he just went home and hung out.

Tuesday 24th - I stopped at Kid-to-Kid to see if they had anything that I couldn't live without and to get some bows to go with Rachel's Easter dress.  I went to pick up Sierra for a surprise lunch.  It was a lot of fun to have lunch with her and Rachel.  We saw some missionaries there and we talked to them for a few minutes, I even got their picture to send to their parents.  That evening we worked a little more on the bedding. John was supposed to tutor after he got off work, but his student canceled a couple of hours before. He wasn't too happy.

Wednesday 25th - I picked up Swig in the morning for my dad, mom, and myself.  We dropped off my dad's drink and then headed over to my mom's school were I got a spring time Easter picture of Rachel taken. After the picture we headed up to my mom's classroom and spent her lunch hour there.  I was really tired after we got back to the house so I took a nap when Rachel did.  John tutored after work, but not for very long as his two high school students didn't have much to go over.

Thursday 26th - I spent the morning working and finishing the carseat cover.  I picked up lunch from Costa Vida and drinks for Swig and took it to my dad and then took my mom her's.  I took another nap with Rachel that afternoon. John had a conference he went to for work. He said that it was very interesting, but mostly over his head as it was aimed at Genetic Councilors and doctors. He was able to go eat dinner at his parents afterwards though and make it home in time to FaceTime for a little.

Friday 27th - I worked until lunch time and managed to finish the nursing cover to match the carseat cover.  My mom came home after work to change and then headed to Summit to sell Roos at a race check-in.  I spent the afternoon doing some stuff for the bumper pads and then relaxing because my back was hurting pretty bad.  John went to the conference for the second day, and found a few more things interesting and more to his interests, but got stuck in a couple sessions that were long and very specific to things he doesn't work with. He said he fell asleep during one.

Saturday 28th - My mom and I worked hard in the morning to finish the bumper pads for baby boy's bedding.  We had to take a quick break to go to Michel's and get some ribbon and we went to swig so I could get a drink for my trip.  I left St. George after a 15 minute wait to get gas at Costco.  We drove to Nephi before stopping and then we only stopped because I was really tired and my back hurt.  We got some dinner while in Nephi so we wouldn't have to stop again.  We made pretty good time getting home from there especially since traffic wasn't awesome.  After I got home John helped me and we got everything unloaded and unpacked before putting Rachel to bed. John gave me a back massage to try and help my back and inadvertently bruised the worst part of my back, but I was grateful for what he was able to do.

Sunday 29th - We all got to sleep in until 8 which was so nice and so needed.  We got ready for church slowly and then headed to church early since the choir was practicing for the Easter program.  Church was fairly uneventful and as soon as we got home we started cooking the noodles for family dinner.  It took a little longer then we had hoped so we were a little late for dinner. After we got home from dinner Rachel decided she was hungry again and then John put her in the bath.  My grandma called and talked to John for a little bit to get some help with her iPad so it was fun to say hi to her.

March 9th - March 15th

Rachel is such a Turkey. She likes to offer us things, and then take them away last minute. If we ask her to come to us, she gets a shy look and then "stealthily" walking away. She has also learned how to sign "more," and has learned to combine it with "please," so we get a lot of "more please." She also loves saying "scuse you" if anyone is in her way or if she toots.

Monday 9th: I spent a good portion of the day sewing a couple of carseat covers and nursing covers for some friends that are about to have (or did have by the end of the week) a baby. John got home and we hung out.

Tuesday 10th: Rachel and I took a trip to Kid-to-Kid to try and sell some items that we don't need anymore, and then Rachel and I went grocery shopping. John got home and we enjoyed a relaxing evening together. John helped Ben with some statistics and then we headed to bed.

Wednesday 11th: My mom and Sierra got here in the morning, and then we all headed out. We went to Kid-to-Kid and had a lot of fun there. After that, we came home and put Rachel down for her nap. We rearranged the living room a little bit during Rachel's nap. John tutored in the evening, but made it home sooner than he thought he would. We all watched Survivor and headed to bed.

Thursday 12th: My mom and John got up and went for a 6 mile run. My mom and I spent the day rearranging our room, and the sewing/computer room as well as organizing baby clothes. We have realized that our chances of getting out of our apartment before David arrives (or even before August) are very slim, so we rearranged so that we will have some room for him in our room right after he is born, and so that we can make things work until we can get out. It all looks really nice. We were very excited for John to see after he got home (after tutoring), but we wanted it to be a surprise, so we waiting for him to walk into one of the rooms, and then took him on a tour. He was very surprised, and very happy (and impressed).

Friday 13th: My mom and I spent the morning sewing, and then we took Rachel outside to play on the playground. She had a blast. John was able to leave work a bit early, so after he got home, we left to run some errands before Rachel woke up. We went to Swig and Joanns to get some materials. We came home and had dinner, and then John got Rachel in the bath and we slipped out to go over to Jodi's to decorate for the bridal shower the following day. John was going to put Rachel to bed before we got home, but after she got out of the tub she was yelling "mom!" and searching the house for me. John sent me a video which broke my heart, so I asked him to keep her up until I got back.

Saturday 14th: John got up and went for a 10 (he almost made it 11) mile run in the morning. While he was gone, my mom and I got ready and went over the bridal shower. When we got to Jodi's house we worked on making sure everything looked perfect, sent my cousin Cameron to get a ballon to mark the house and started making waffles for the waffle bar. We played a couple games, had a lot of fun visiting with everyone, and opened presents.  John went and threw discs with his dad, and my mom and I brought Rachel home and we all took naps. After she woke up, my mom, John, and I went to Ikea. We originally planned on getting a headboard for our bed, but Ikea only sells full bed frames, and they were a bit more expensive (for not having the right color or style) so we ended up not getting one. We did find a nice shelving unit that can be used as an entertainment center, so we grabbed that. We then went to dinner at Sizzler, and then came home. My mom and I put Rachel in the bath while John set up the entertainment center. It look so good, except for one drawer that had a flaw. John needs to return that one to Ikea.

Sunday 15th: My mom got up really early and headed home so she could make it to her ward and not make Rachel cry when she left. John and I got up to wish them a safe drive, and then went back to bed. Rachel woke up about an hour later, and was very cranky all morning. John worked on setting up the items on our new entertainment center, and we all got ready and headed to church. Rachel was better than usual in Sacrament. When John took her to nursery, it took her a little bit to decide she wanted to stay. She ran out the door and down the hallway. Fortunately her favorite nursery leader found her and John in the hallway and took her happily back to nursery. I had to teach my class by myself today because my teaching companion forgot she was going to mission homecoming. My class did not behave well, so it was nice to be able to come home. Once we got home, we put Rachel down for a nap, and I fell asleep while John played his game. After we woke up, we ate dinner, got Rachel in the bath, and then hung out a little bit. It was nice to relax as a family.

March 2nd - March 8th

Rachel is starting to talk a lot more. Most of the time this is incredibly cute, but it is really hard to be upset at her when she says "no" back to us in such a cute way. When she gets too upset, we tell her to go to her room, and she will go and calm herself down, and then come back out. We have started the potty training process this last week and she enjoys being told what a "big girl" she is as she sits on her potty.

Monday 2nd - In the morning Rachel and I headed to Joanns, while we were there we saw Katie which was fun.  After we got home and Rachel had some lunch I worked on some sewing. During nap time Rachel and I both took naps which is always nice.  When John got home he very nicely made us dinner. We spent a relaxing evening together.

Tuesday 3rd - There was a huge snowstorm but Rachel and I braved the weather so that I could go to Joanns.  I had to go to a different one then the day before because they didn't have all the fabric I needed. After Joanns we headed home for lunch and nap time.  We both took much needed naps and then I worked a bit on my sewing.  That night John had presidency meeting so I gave Rachel her bath and put her to bed.

Wednesday 4th - Rachel and I spent the morning at home. I worked on sewing and Rachel had fun playing. A maintaince guy came over to check out the vent in the master bath since it sounded like there were critters in it.  For lunch we met our playgroup at Chick-Fil-A. It was nice for the adults to visit and the kids to play at the play place. As soon as we got home Rachel went down for a nap and I worked on sewing some more.  John spent the evening tutoring so he didn't get home until after 7:00.  After he got home he spent a while fixing our satellite box.

Thursday 5th - I worked on sewing for pretty much the whole day and Rachel had fun spreading her toys all over the house. John was supposed to tutor that evening but part way through the day the kid canceled on him so he just came home after work. After Rachel went to bed we watched Survivor on his laptop since our satellite didn't record it on Wednesday.

Friday 6th - I spent most of the day sewing again. John was getting off work early so that he could tutor but that kid canceled as well so he just got to come home early. We spent the evening together, I worked on Bridal shower invites and we watched Amazing Race.

Saturday 7th - The day started early for John when he went on a 9 mile run. After he got home he hurried to shower and then went to play disc golf with his dad and brother. While he was gone I finished the bridal shower invites and got clothes ready for the rest of the day. When John got home we headed for Hooper for my cousin's wedding reception. After the nice and beautiful reception we headed over to Ogden to pick up a box for my grandma. Once we had the box we continued on to Logan where we made a quick stop at Locker 42 (a USU clothing store) and then we met our friends Chet, Morgan, and their two daughters for dinner at Center Street Grill. It was a lot of fun to catch up with them and see how much their girls have grown. After dinner we headed to the game but stopped at Carols and Cathy's house to say hello to them. The game was close for most of it but at the end the refs started doing Colorado a lot of favors so we ended up losing by 5 points. It is always sad when USU loses but it was especially sad because it was the head coach's last home game as he is retiring. We stopped at a gas station on our way out of town for a potty stop and so we could change Rachel into her pajamas. She slept almost the entire way home, just waking up from a nightmare and spent the last 10 minutes crying. When we got home John carried Rachel up and laid her right down in bed and she was out.

Sunday 8th - We all got to sleep in a little since we went to bed so late and it was day-light savings. For breakfast we actually got to sit down at the same time but Rachel finished first and wanted to sit on John's lap while he finished. There was a hot chocolate mug to close yet to far away from where Rachel was and she managed to dump almost the whole thing onto the table and my lap. It was still hot so I hurried to change while John cleaned it all up. We spent the rest of the morning getting ready for church. We all went to Sacrament meeting but John took Rachel home after that because she had a very runny nose.  After I came home from church we all relaxed until our friends Becca and Joe came over for dinner and games.  We played 4 games of 7 Wonders John won 1 of them. We won't talk about my scores.

February 23rd - March 1st

Rachel is way too smart for her own girl. She says things that sound incredibly like full sentences. She loves "down" and "no" currently, but doesn't say either angrily (usually). She has been running a lot, but she looks like she is galloping while she runs. It's really cute.

Monday 23rd - Rachel and I went to Walmart to get some groceries for the week. We then came back home and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon. John came home and joined us.

Tuesday 24th - In the morning was play group. We went to the Children's Museum of Natural Curiosity.  Rachel had such a blast. One of her favorite rooms was a laundry mat with a light-up washer. Rachel just stood in front of it for a very long time turning it on over and over. They also had a little food court with bags to fill and Rachel went to town with that.  She also had some fun with the giant legos and the dance room. We headed home for lunch and naps after the museum.  John was happy to join us after he got off work.

Wednesday 25th - Rachel and I staid home all day and I worked on some craft projects. John tutored after he got off work. He spent a lot of time waiting for the second of the two sisters that he tutors, but she didn't need any help, so he was a little frustrated. After he got home, we watched the season premiere of Survivor and Amazing Race.

Thursday 26th - I worked some more on my crafts and Rachel had fun playing and spreading her toys all over. John tutored again after work. After he finished, he called Pizza Hut to use our credit to get a pizza for dinner. He stopped and grabbed that and came home and we had fun eating and relaxing.

Friday 27th - I spent the morning straightening up the house before my parents arrived. I also made a trip over to Kid-to-Kid to try and sell some of Rachel's things we don't need anymore, but they weren't buying on Friday due to a major sale. John was able to get off work a little early, so he stopped and grabbed Terry and Gloria's air mattress for my parents.

Saturday 28th - John woke up early and went for a 10 mile run with Tiffani. They were delayed getting started, so he got back a bit later than originally planned. My parents headed over to Jodi's a bit early, and the three of us headed straight to the church when John was ready for my cousin's baptism. It was a very nice baptism. Afterwards, we went back to Jodi's for a nice brunch and to hang out for a bit. After that, we took Rachel home for her nap. While she was asleep, John went to Costco for an eye exam. Our insurance was so nice that he only paid $15 for the eye exam, paid $8 something for contacts, but will get $10 back. He was very excited. We then went back over to Jodi's to hang out and so I could help plan a bridal shower for my cousin. My mom, aunt, and I went to Costco to get some items while John watched Rachel. We ate dinner, and brought Rachel home as she was starting to melt down. After that we hung out with my parents and went to bed.

Sunday March 1st - We woke up in the morning to make sure my parents were able to get off well to church. Then, the 3 of us hung out and started making dinner for after church. After the sacrament they went to, my parents and siblings came back over to change and get some food before heading home. Rachel was very sad when they left. We finished getting ready and headed to church. Rachel was a bit of a handful during sacrament, and took a few minutes to get comfortable again in nursery. Once she did she was happy. After we got home, she wanted a nap, so we laid her down for a bit. We woke her up after about an hour to make sure that she would go to sleep before midnight, and she was rather cranky for the rest of the night as a result. We had our friends Becca and Joe come over for dinner and games. They each won a game of 7 Wonders, and then had to head home.
