Rachel is such a Turkey. She likes to offer us things, and then take them away last minute. If we ask her to come to us, she gets a shy look and then "stealthily" walking away. She has also learned how to sign "more," and has learned to combine it with "please," so we get a lot of "more please." She also loves saying "scuse you" if anyone is in her way or if she toots.
Monday 9th: I spent a good portion of the day sewing a couple of carseat covers and nursing covers for some friends that are about to have (or did have by the end of the week) a baby. John got home and we hung out.
Tuesday 10th: Rachel and I took a trip to Kid-to-Kid to try and sell some items that we don't need anymore, and then Rachel and I went grocery shopping. John got home and we enjoyed a relaxing evening together. John helped Ben with some statistics and then we headed to bed.
Wednesday 11th: My mom and Sierra got here in the morning, and then we all headed out. We went to Kid-to-Kid and had a lot of fun there. After that, we came home and put Rachel down for her nap. We rearranged the living room a little bit during Rachel's nap. John tutored in the evening, but made it home sooner than he thought he would. We all watched Survivor and headed to bed.
Thursday 12th: My mom and John got up and went for a 6 mile run. My mom and I spent the day rearranging our room, and the sewing/computer room as well as organizing baby clothes. We have realized that our chances of getting out of our apartment before David arrives (or even before August) are very slim, so we rearranged so that we will have some room for him in our room right after he is born, and so that we can make things work until we can get out. It all looks really nice. We were very excited for John to see after he got home (after tutoring), but we wanted it to be a surprise, so we waiting for him to walk into one of the rooms, and then took him on a tour. He was very surprised, and very happy (and impressed).
Friday 13th: My mom and I spent the morning sewing, and then we took Rachel outside to play on the playground. She had a blast. John was able to leave work a bit early, so after he got home, we left to run some errands before Rachel woke up. We went to Swig and Joanns to get some materials. We came home and had dinner, and then John got Rachel in the bath and we slipped out to go over to Jodi's to decorate for the bridal shower the following day. John was going to put Rachel to bed before we got home, but after she got out of the tub she was yelling "mom!" and searching the house for me. John sent me a video which broke my heart, so I asked him to keep her up until I got back.
Saturday 14th: John got up and went for a 10 (he almost made it 11) mile run in the morning. While he was gone, my mom and I got ready and went over the bridal shower. When we got to Jodi's house we worked on making sure everything looked perfect, sent my cousin Cameron to get a ballon to mark the house and started making waffles for the waffle bar. We played a couple games, had a lot of fun visiting with everyone, and opened presents. John went and threw discs with his dad, and my mom and I brought Rachel home and we all took naps. After she woke up, my mom, John, and I went to Ikea. We originally planned on getting a headboard for our bed, but Ikea only sells full bed frames, and they were a bit more expensive (for not having the right color or style) so we ended up not getting one. We did find a nice shelving unit that can be used as an entertainment center, so we grabbed that. We then went to dinner at Sizzler, and then came home. My mom and I put Rachel in the bath while John set up the entertainment center. It look so good, except for one drawer that had a flaw. John needs to return that one to Ikea.
Sunday 15th: My mom got up really early and headed home so she could make it to her ward and not make Rachel cry when she left. John and I got up to wish them a safe drive, and then went back to bed. Rachel woke up about an hour later, and was very cranky all morning. John worked on setting up the items on our new entertainment center, and we all got ready and headed to church. Rachel was better than usual in Sacrament. When John took her to nursery, it took her a little bit to decide she wanted to stay. She ran out the door and down the hallway. Fortunately her favorite nursery leader found her and John in the hallway and took her happily back to nursery. I had to teach my class by myself today because my teaching companion forgot she was going to mission homecoming. My class did not behave well, so it was nice to be able to come home. Once we got home, we put Rachel down for a nap, and I fell asleep while John played his game. After we woke up, we ate dinner, got Rachel in the bath, and then hung out a little bit. It was nice to relax as a family.
